A Vision for New Mexico

Defend Democracy

Donald Trump and his allies have spent years trying to undermine trust in our elections, intimidate voters, and attack the public servants who protect our democracy. New Mexico needs a Secretary of State who has already stood up to election deniers, political extremism, and abuses of power — and won.

  • Protect voters from chaos, doubt, and intimidation

  • Stop misinformation before it spreads through proactive voter education and transparency

  • Push back against political interference in elections and defend local control of New Mexico elections

  • Katharine Clark was the only Clerk in New Mexico to directly stand up to ICE to protect Santa Fe County voters, and while she supports Senate Bill 264, she believes New Mexico should go further by adopting a “mere presence” standard her push back on ICE contained, preventing armed federal agents from intimidating voters near polling places and ballot drop boxes

  • Expand Santa Fe County’s nationally recognized transparency programs, including real-time voter information tools and post-election transparency initiatives

  • Stand with election workers facing threats, harassment, and political intimidation

  • Protect the freedom to vote and ensure every eligible ballot is counted

Expand Access to the Ballot

Democracy is strongest when every community has a voice and every voter can fully participate in our elections.

  • Expand voting rights by bringing Santa Fe County’s award-winning Democracy 101 civic education program statewide so every New Mexico student graduates understanding how voting works

  • Expand youth voter participation through pre-registration outreach, student engagement, mock elections, and civic education partnerships

  • Expand Native American voting rights through stronger Tribal partnerships, improved outreach, and increased transparency around elections impacting Tribal communities

  • Expand voting access for incarcerated eligible voters through jail-based voting programs modeled after Santa Fe County

  • Expand ballot tracking, cure notifications, and voter communication tools so voters know their ballot was received and counted

  • Reduce barriers for rural voters, multilingual communities, working families, seniors, voters with disabilities, and first-time voters

  • Expand secure and accessible voting infrastructure, including ballot drop boxes and emergency voting options

Run Trusted Elections

New Mexico should continue leading the nation with elections that are secure, transparent, professional, and efficient.

  • Ensure 100% election night reporting statewide modeled after Santa Fe County’s election night operations

  • Streamline election night procedures so accurate results begin reporting quickly after polls close

  • Expand real-time turnout reporting, wait time tools, and voter transparency dashboards modeled after Santa Fe County innovations

  • Work with New Mexico’s county clerks to modernize election operations and professionalize statewide election training

  • Strengthen cybersecurity, election readiness, backup power systems, and emergency preparedness for fires, outages, and natural disasters

  • Expand proactive ballot cure systems and voter notification tools already implemented in Santa Fe County

  • Support election worker recruitment, training, retention, and workplace safety

  • Continue building one of the strongest and most transparent election systems in the country

Reduce the Influence of Dark Money & Powerful Interests

Too many working people feel like the government only listens to wealthy donors, corporate interests, and political insiders. New Mexicans deserve transparency, accountability, and a government that works for ordinary people again.

  • Expand public financing for campaigns to reduce the influence of wealthy donors and corporate interests

  • Increase transparency around campaign finance reporting, political spending, lobbying, and influence at the Roundhouse

  • Push back against systems that give wealthy interests more influence than ordinary New Mexicans

  • Support stronger ethics, disclosure, and transparency protections in government

  • Encourage cooperative and community-centered business practices

Modernize the Secretary of State’s Office & Other Government

Government should not feel outdated, inaccessible, or difficult to navigate. New Mexicans deserve public services that are modern, transparent, and designed to actually help people.

  • Build a clear, mobile-friendly Secretary of State website modeled after Santa Fe County’s nationally recognized voter information tools

  • Modernize business services, public records systems, election information platforms, and public-facing filing systems

  • Expand online transparency tools for voters, candidates, businesses, and public records access

  • Improve access to public information and government services statewide

  • Reduce unnecessary bureaucracy and outdated paper-driven processes

  • Invest in modern technology, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure to improve efficiency and public trust

  • Deliver faster, more accessible government services focused on results, transparency, and public service

  • The Secretary of State sits on PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association), State Archives,  and many other boards where she will be an advocate for fairness for everyday people and modernization for better government services
